These are the questions I have recieved over the last few days.
How's Edgar liking his first year in the Padres organization? Do you talk to him much? First I'll answer the second question. I do talk to my brother almost every day. We keep track of each other our at bats and ways to stay on top of our game. The first question, he does enjoy playing in the Padres system although he hasn't been able to play everyday because they have too many players that should play everyday and have to rotate them daily. They have been told however that they will make some kind of a move soon and either be traded or open up more playing time for him. So they are all waiting to see what happens in the next couple of weeks. Mr. Gonzalez, I am a good hitter but don't seem to have much power. What tips do you have on proper swing mechanics for a power swing? The first thing I have to say is don't try to pull the ball. Power comes from balance and lenght in your swing, not uppercut swing and trying to pull the ball. Make sure you stay back and let the ball come to you and always try to hit the inside part of the ball. Keep your base and your legs under you. If you leave your balance and center of power by going after the ball you will hit for less power. I don't want to put too much in your head, try using the hitting drills in the kids section and let me know how that works. I notcied that I am a dead pull hitter and that i could be a better player if I was able to hit the ball to the oppostie field. I was wondering if theres a drill I could do to help me hit more balls to the opposite field? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Many players tend to be pull happy because they are never thought proper hitting balance and technics. Don't be to worried that you pull the ball too much. Try doing the tee drills in the kids sections, that should help you stay inside the ball and not pull so much. Another pointer is don't be too concerned with were the ball goes, what i mean is don't look to much into pull and opposite field, but instead try to stay inside the ball and get backspin not top-spin. You can pull but it has to travel straight and not like a tennis lob. Opposite field has to go straight and not like a fade ball. So try to hit true backspin line drives to the middle of the field. That should help for now. Let me know how that works. Just being curious to ask this questions. I grew up my entire life in San Ysidro and know the in and outs of it and i just wanted to know what place in San Ysidro you played ball in? I played one year of tee ball in San Ysidro at the fields above the public pool just off the 905 freeway on Beyer. I can't recall the name of the fields or the league. Thanks for your questions hope I've answered all and keep sending and please spread the word about my site to others. Till next time. God Bless |
