This weeks hitting tip is a mental approach at the plate for all....
This weeks hitting tip is a tip I have been battling with. It is more a mental approach while at the plate. “Always swing at your pitch, not the pitch the pitcher wants you to swing at.” Every pitcher has a strength and they like to pitch to their strengths. The thing though is that every hitter has a strength as well. As a hitter you should always look to use you strength until two strikes, then you have to battle and do your best to not swing at balls. For example my strength is middle up, so for me, I have to get myself ready to swing at every pitch and if the pitcher throws a pitch middle up, then I can swing, if its down I then take it. Before I set my mind to this, I was swinging at pitches down in the zone early in the count and getting out with a pitch I should not have swung at. After the adjustment, I have 3 hits in six at bats with two walks and only one strikeout. Big difference. So next time you have a game try this approach and if you have any questions, send them over. |
