This hitting drill is one that my brother Edgar has explained. It is one he likes to do much and is very helpful to him. I have done it in the past and have really benefitted from it. Hope you try it as well.
This hitting tip is very helpful when you are pulling off the ball (shoulder flying open). Instead of doing your soft toss drills with the coach tossing you the ball from the front, this drill they toss you the ball from the side facing you (or opposite batters box). It helps you keep your shoulders square and use your hands more. The key to this drill is to not toss the ball out in front, you want to toss the ball high and inside. The reason you want the ball high is to get your hands working from the top down and swinging down through the ball. The reason you want the ball in is to work your hands from the inside out. Make sure you do this drill with a good pace and a good rhythm and you get your hands back every time you take a swing. |
