Almost two months have gone by since my last entry, and first of all I want to say I am sorry for the delay. As you can see I have been working on updating my webpage to give you guys something to look at with more life to it. The site is not fully completed, but it will soon be.
Much has happened in the two months, we have had many injuries on the team, we have lost a lot of games, and in the midst of all the tough times, I was fortunate enough to be able to go to my second all-star game and my first home-run derby. The all-star game was a lot of fun even if the game itself was not as exciting as it was last year in New York. The Home run derby was a lot of fun although I do have to admit that I had a bit too much adrenaline which I feel led to only hitting two out. Its ok, maybe I will have a second opportunity to redeem myself. You probably read about the hard travel we took to get there, but it was all worth it.
With the team, things haven't gone that great I have to admit. We have had a lot of injuries to the veteran guys on the club and has forced us to go really young with very little experience and we have not played great baseball, especially myself. It has been a different and rather hard experience for me to be walked a lot and when I do get pitches to hit I feel I either foul them off or them at the defensive players for outs, some very hard, some hard, some not hard, but no cheap hits, thats for sure.
Also to let you know August 23rd is our annual dinner at Acqua Al 2 where a few of the Padres and other celebrities will be serving dinner, bartending, and cooking the meals. It has been a lot of fun over the last couple of years. Also this year we will have an interactive game with a few of the celebrities so that should be the best part of the night. And this year all the money raised will go to scholarships. My wife Betsy and I are starting a scholarship program for the the foundation so we will get to let you know all the details at the event. Hope you can make it space is limited, to attend their is a tab in the home page at the bottom right hand corner.
Also to let you know about Faith night coming up August 21st as well, that is where all the players who share the same belief in Jesus Christ as our Lord and savior come out after the game and share our testimony to the fans that wish to stick around and listen.
I have also been reading, "The Case For Christ" by Lee Strobel and I am half way done and so far it has been one of the best books I have read. It is a book I would recommend to everyone, even if you don't believe in God, take a look at it.
Till next time, God Bless.
