Gonzalez's six hits pace Padres' romp

MILWAUKEE -- Adrian Gonzalez had a career-high six hits and Will Venable knocked in three runs on Tuesday as the Padres topped the Brewers, 13-6, before a crowd of 37,040 at Miller Park.

The Padres set a season-high in runs and hits (22).

Gonzalez and Venable each had two-run singles in a six-run sixth inning as the Padres (48-66) won for the 10th time in 14 games.

Venable also hit a home run, his sixth homer in the past 11 games.

San Diego starting pitcher Clayton Richard allowed four run in six innings to improve to 2-0. Richard, who came over from the White Sox in the Jake Peavy deal, allowed six hits and two walks while striking out two.

The Brewers (55-57), who got home runs from Mike Cameron and Bill Hall, saw starter Braden Looper (10-6) allow seven runs -- five earned -- on 11 hits in five innings.
